I read a blog of this FABULOUS chef/chicky who lives in St.Paul I believe. Her post that I just read reminded me of something I learned when I was eight...
My Grandparents would have me down to Albert Lea for a week or so every summer. One particularly stuffy August day my Granny asked if I wanted to help her make her tea.
SURE! I loved to make stuff with Granny. We made all kinds of stuff, cookies, chalk drawings, embroidery, crochet beer can hats, clay pots, cornhusk dolls (no I am NOT kidding, Granny was an Art Major at St. Olaf besides being just the Snow Queen!)
So, Granny gets down the big green glass bottle I loved to admire from afar. Yes, I knew that it had to be good even then. We got another bottle that was clear, some ice and a lovely teapot. "Okay," says Granny, "pour in 4 little glass fulls of the stuff in the green bottle and then 1/2 a little glass from the clear bottle. That's it sweetie, right over the ice chunks! Ahhh perfection."
How to make Grandma some "tea"!

Happy 94th Birthday Granny!
We can have Martini's on Sunday! Or maybe it will be too cold and I will need that special 'cough' medicine. You know the sugar, hot water, and stuff from that really cool brown bottle with the maple leaf on it!
