A Gory Little Story.

When we were up north at our timeshare we had the opportunity to use the pontoon of one of my husband's friends to cruise Cross Lake and the Whitefish Chain.
There was a lovely island in the lake that we decided would be perfect for a swim and lunch. So we headed over and unloaded all our stuff and played in the water and on the beach.
Very soon Boo Boo La La said, "Momma, I gotta pee pee."
"Go in the lake honey - that is what you do."
"I can pee in the lake?"
"Yup, but not the pool. Got it?"
"Okay!!!!"
She runs out into the water and hollars out to her sister, "SAIR!!! I am going pee pee."
Sair looked up from her book and called back from the pontoon. "And THAT is why I am not swimming in the lake." (she never swims anymore! not even at the waterslide pool!)
We have lunch and continue to enjoy our little island - it's the middle of the week and we pretty much have the lake to ourselves - suddenly Boo Boo La La exclaims, "Momma, I gotta POOP!"
uhhhhhh
"Okay, come with me." We walk around the side of the island that does not have the beach and well...I held my little munchkin up so she could squat and do her 'bidness. And I brought wipes so we would not have issues....with torn tissues. :)
She came back to the family and proudly beamed, "I POOPED!" and boy did she EVER poop.
She even CONFESSED!!! dum dum dum

I know Chris Shaffer from working as a radio dj. Our paths crossed for a few years at KOOL 108 - he is a superduperextraspecialniceguy - so I feel bad about this exchange...but, I am sharing anyway! ;)
Last night watching the news Chris said something about the radar being "green and gold" for the Packer fans because of the rain.
I said, "Oh hush up Stillwater boy!"
The hubs responded - "Just kill him." (JOKING OBVIOUSLY!)
I responded, "Kill him? Just cut off his wiener!" (again JOKING!)
"THAT IS CRUEL", the hubs replied.
"Cruel? You wanted to kill him."
"Honey, ask any man, 'If you did not know it was coming, would you rather be killed or have your wiener cut off?' all of them will say, 'Kill Me.'"
"Seriously?"
"Seriously."
You men are just about weird enough that his tale may be true....so, let me know.

I find it funny that they are giving money back on these videos now - I had two that were given to us and Boo Boo La La NEVER liked watching them. We had way more fun with Ebee Baby videos and playing like they did!
Which would you choose?

Rambling Music Reminiscing Post
Friday, October 23, 2009
This morning I was working out in my living room - My Fitness Coach has the option of turning down (or up I guess) the volume on the three elements. Voice, Music, Effects. - yes effects like birdies and crickets and the wind. It is a cool Wii game after all...
Anyway, I decided last week to turn down the music and listen to The Current while I work out. I am a member of The Current (why aren't you yet?) and they do not play commercials.
It.works.
I heard this song during my warm-up and it brought up all these music and boy memories for me. Jarvis Cocker - Black Magic. hmmmmmm, in a good way.
You see I was an odd one in my high school. Do not get me wrong, I appreciate and love a lot of pop music and classic rock, but I LURVE me some skinny white boy, crazy alternative, blues, rap, raggae - combo stuff too. I did hang out with some odd skinny white boys too. ;) Oh, and the original rapper - Johnny Cash Jewish boy too, but that was later.
I grew up and attended Chaska Senior High School. The home of the Hawks, boys who listend to KQRS, girls who were in LOVE with Prince - an obsession feuled to inferno when the Huntsberry girls started attending our little high school, some people who liked old school Marvin Gaye & Barry White, and then me.
I think I was the only person in my whole class that would rather listen to The Police, Adam and The Ants, or The Thompson Twins than listen to Prince. (Prince, you are a genious and all, but woman cannot live on Purple Rain alone - not this one anyway.) And imagine being the first person in your high school to have cable television MTV and access to bands like The Specials and The Buggles? We lived across the street from the school and it just worked out that my dad WANTED cable, he had a pirate HBO antena already, and they were stringing the cable from the school where the cable tv studio/office was going to be located.
What is the point of this rambling post? Nothing much. It is a rainy gloomy day and this music makes me feel 19 instead of 42.
Enjoy your weekends my dear little alternative rockers.
I mean - seriously this guy is "for cute".

An apprentice lineman for Westar has become an expert at winning a big lottery prize. Joseph Koelzer matched the first five numbers in the August 29 Hot Lotto drawing, winning himself a $10,000 cash prize. “I’m in shock!” said the 24-year-old Onaga resident. Koelzer’s ticket was a $10 Quick Pick.
Koelzer, who is single(hey LADIES - come and get' em!), collects and restores International Harvestor tractors as a hobby. He’s not sure how he’s going to spend all of his prize money, but he does know where some of it will go. “I have about 40 tractors in my collection right now,” said the lucky winner. “And I’m going to buy at least one more with my prize money.” Koelzer bought his Hot Lotto ticket the evening of August 29 at Casey’s General Store 1405, located at 404 Main Street in Americus. Koelzer says he will continue to play Hot Lotto, Powerball and Super Kansas Cash, even after this big win. “My hair cuttin’ lady said I should keep on playin’,” Koelzer said. “So I guess I will.”

Well! I never...
Monday, October 19, 2009
This post is about things I have NEVER EVER DONE IN MY LIFE. And since I pretty much do not pass up many opportunities this was tough.
But here goes. With TWO bonus answers...
I have NEVER:
- Gone to the top of any building where you were OUTSIDE to look over the edge. I am afraid of heights and sent my camera up with my friends at the Eifel Tower and Olympic Tower in Munich. It just ain't happening people - ask T-Bone. ;)
- Watched Lost, Heros, 24, or most of the "IT" hour long shows everyone else loves. I.just.do.not.care.
- Graduated college - YET. I graduate in March with (so far, cross your fingers, pray, etc.) a 4.0 gpa. Not that it means much now, if I were 23 I would be on every recruiters list, but now....
- Been to California - I have, but I do not think it counts if you land at LAX - get picked up in a car and driven to a hotel - never leave that hotel because you are in training - get taken back to LAX in a bus and go home...
- Wanted to see the "psyco-killer porn" that is the scary movie of today, like Saw - etc. What ever happend to the old Friday the 13th style movie that was mostly scary by what you did not see?
- Watched anyone die...I am a little freaked out by this because I know one day it will happen, but that brings me to the last never...
- I have never been able to not worry. I worry about the stupidest stuff all the time, it is terrible - but since I do not always express my worry I do not feel it hinders me from being happy. You know me, I always still have a good time. ;)
There you have it. Enjoy and play along if you feel the urge to purge.

Cheree - Suicide
Friday, October 9, 2009
This group, Suicide, apparently is considered as influential in the post-punk scene as The Clash... even though I never heard of them before today, but I digress.
Wikipedia has a huge listing for them where it outlines this first self-titled album:
Their first album, Suicide (1977), is often regarded as a classic: One critic writes: "'Che', 'Ghost Rider'—these eerie, sturdy, proto-punk anthems rank among the most visionary, melodic experiments the rock realm has yet produced. Of note is the ten-minute "Frankie Teardrop," which tells the story of a poverty-stricken Vietnam
vet pushed to the edge: critic Emerson Dameron writes that the song is "one
of the most terrifying, riveting, absurd things I’ve ever heard. They go on to say:
Bruce Springsteen was also influenced by the band, as evident by the song "State Trooper" from his album Nebraska. Furthermore, Springsteen also used a solo keyboard version of "Dream Baby Dream" (by Suicide)
to close the concerts on his 2005 Devils & Dust Tour.
Imagine if you were this talented with a microphone, a drum machine and an organ.
The Moon & The Boats
Wednesday, October 7, 2009
On my iGoogle I have a widget called "The Mixx" where there are many odd and many beautiful stories - I click on them and read, but today I clicked and looked at an Artist who is known for his paintings of the sea...the work above, The Moon and The Boats was the feature.
Beautiful. And pretty much how he is described on the Umbra Gallery website.
"True beauty is irresistible. It evokes an intense desire to look at it, to possess it, for us to identify with it. With his paintings, George Dmitriev can bring the viewer closer to the beauty.
In his seascapes he depicts the avidness of the waves, the champagne party of the exuberant breakers, and the transparent splendor of the aquamarine depths. It is striking that people are most often missing in the canvasses of George Dmitriev. In his art only one person is central, and that is the one who is looking at the painting.
But the almost hallucinating suggestion that comes out of his work is so strong that the viewer gets the feeling that he is actually a part of what is depicted: he is wading through the sea, he is standing at the beach watching the sun go down. He comprises a part of the irresistible beauty."

MEMe Music Monday - Soundtrack of Mommy!
Monday, October 5, 2009
So the idea today is to share music that moves you - or used to...create a
Soundtrack of Your Life
At least according to SupahMommy and Mommybrain - get the link and play along if you like...
Mine? Pretty eclectic, I think...
When I was five and had my first AM/FM Radio, Raggedy Ann & Andy thank you! I listend to the country stations late at night because the songs had stories...
Johnny Cash was my favorite, still is...
As I grew older I discovered Rock N' Roll and well - just about lived for the Rolling Stones...I think Johnny is okay with that.
By high school I was loving Madonna, The Beastie Boys, etc. But EVERYONE told me I was a dead ringer for Belinda Carlisle...and I loved singing to this song LOUD. I could even hit the high parts back then.
Then, in college I felt like this all the time. I went through boyfriends as fast as kleenex I used when I would listen to this song.
After I dropped out of college I worked in radio - early on I was at a Top40 station and all I can recall of that time was Ace Of Base. ;) And now I still love them and Abba too. ;)
I know this is getting long - but I AM OLD, remember?
Speaking of getting old I love Mary J. Blige because this song reminds me to cut out what does not help me get through the day...get rid of the drama, everyone has theirs and no one gets more than they can handle in their life.
This song reminds me of why I have my new life...I mean it may seem odd; but I lurve me some EverClear.
When I work out this is in my head...
And of course my life would not be complete without hearing the Police blaring in the recesses of my mind...today this song, though I know it is about obsession, reminds me of my daughter. I cry thinking that someday she will be a woman with her own family and reminds me I must cherish my time with her now as best as I can. I know sometimes I fail, but I pick up and go on with a hug and a kiss.
Enjoy!
Love, MommyLisa
Have you ever heard of The Community Channel?

This girl Natalie is brilliant - she needs her own sitcom. Really!
Look back at some of her YouTube posts and see how she makes the totally mundane funny...
like better than Sienfeld funny...
Perhaps I am a schoolgirl?
I am having mixed emotions...

no no no - I KNOW I am full of B.S., but I never actually earned my degree back when I attended the University of Minnesota (Rah-Rah-Rah for Ski-U-Mah!).
I lost most of my financial aid because I was working full-time and not taking a full-load of courses and just felt like my degree path was stupid, so I quit...
And did I ever tell you I was about 7 classes away from graduating?
With a degree in SCANDIAVIAN LANGUAGES???
I.just.gave.up.
And went into radio - DO NOT LAUGH! I was a dj for 8 loooooooooong years. At stations from Ottumwa, IA to Indianapolis, IN - From Alexandria, MN to Minneapolis, MN - and a few random useless months in Mankato, MN doing the AM Drive and reading the farm reports.
I had it ALL baby!
But, then I got a job at Capella University and school would be FREE! Who turns down FREE SCHOOL??? Not me, I kind of liked school and now - well now I could get a degree that actually might help me in business.
So, I have a 4.0 gpa - I have had to finance school myself for two years and I have TWO STINKING CLASSES LEFT! (I do not work at Capella anymore, but HEY to all my friends who still work there!)
This morning I opened my latest textbook and school starts again on Monday. I almost felt like crying...my second to last textbook ever! I do not think I will go for the MS in Education like I used to say - unless I get FREE SCHOOL again.
I am at a turning point. I can feel something is going to happen...but what?
