Slaving Away!

Sunday, August 22, 2010

See that?

This morning I got up and out of bed - came downstairs and began slaving away on this lasagna
It does take me nearly 90 minutes for mis-en-place, cooking, and assembly

Four cheeses - goat, ricotta, parmesean (I used Granna Padano thank you!), and mozzerella (FRESH!)
turkey sausage - a mild Italian
fresh basil and Itallian parsely

While I was doing that my dear hubby T-bone was already slaving away at work.  On Sunday.
Just like he worked yesterday.
TWELVE HOUR DAYS

and all this week too.  so a little slaving in the kitchen by me is a good thing.  he LOVES lasagna.

especially THAT lasagna.  Thanks Ina for having that recipe out there - I have been making it now for almost TWO years!  It goes into the oven later today!

We put one layer of pepper jack cheese in the middle - gives it a nice kick!

Looks like we're both slaving in the kitchen today. In anticipation of a very busy fall, I'm putting the following in the freezer: chicken pot pie, 2 tuna casseroles, 2 baked ziti, 1 grilled chicken, and 2 batches of meatballs.

OMG, I LOVE lasagna sooooo freakin' much!!!! My mom used to make it all the time but hadn't in years and years for some reason. She finally made some for my birthday last year and hasn't made any since.

My goodness - I LOVE lasagna! Especially home made. This post made me so hungry just thinking about it.

This is a great recipe.

sprinkles - lasagna needs a lot of time and a lot of people! Or you end up with as much leftover as I did! ;)

Man, I haven't made lasagna in a LONG time- thanks for the reminder!

I'm planning on starting to fill up the freezer too- our work schedules are cookoo, and I'm sick of having the "what the hell am I going to make for dinner" discussion in my head every stinking day. I like to make a big batch of pizza dough and freeze the par-baked crusts, so that all I have to do is pull it out, slap some toppings on, and bake.
