I was looking for a picture of my Mom and Dad yesterday - so I cruised on over to Snapfish, our family album of choice, and found this one from Parley Lake Winery and Apple Orchard.
If you need to go apple picking, I highly recommend one with wine tasting as an option.
Cute
Then THIS one from my Dad's photo album that day caught the corner of my eye.
I had not noticed it before...
Pull out your wallet Grandpa...I want some Honeycrisp Apples NOW.
I now see the action that got my Dad to fork over $10 for ANOTHER bag of apples. She just took them out of there and looked at Grandpa with the look that says, "I am taking these out of here and you WILL buy them for me old man. I am cute, named after YOU, and you love me so, nyah."
I woke up just before 5am this morning...and I still didn't get to work until 9am.
Why?
Well first it was because I didn't want to open my laptop - I just lay in bed and dozed to old episodes of Full House. I missed the end of the one where "Uncle" Joey decides he wants to be called Joe because Phyllis Diller crashed his HBO Special dreams...did he stay a comedian?
Then at 6 am just as Sponge Bob started - I turned on the laptop and switched the channel to the morning news instead. Yes, I watch news and blog surf - can't you multi-task?
Don't You Love Me??
I realize that now it is getting ridiculously close to 7am. I get out of bed, make the bed, go to wake @IamBooBooLaLa and smell....
Yes, I am going to need that bath. So I switch the channel back to Sponge Bob.
It's The BEST DAY EVAHHHH!!!
At 7:28 am @IamBooBooLaLa announces "I HUNGRY!" and since she has had a little cold I decide to comply with her breakfast request - even though she can get breakfast at daycare - oh "And mama, Dora is coming on and I don't like her." so we surf over to Sprout.
Chirp!
I gather my lunch items in the fridge while I get breakfast and Viola - its now 7:45am and we should be out the door.
I get dressed, dry my hair, get @IamBooBooLaLa into her velour track suit that should be a memory, but its like 45 degrees and POURING RAIN outside. I throw on a little makeup so I don't scare anyone and we then head back downstairs to bundle up.
I am in the kitchen filling my lunch sack with my goodies when @IamBooBooLaLa walks in with the cardboard portion of the Tangled DVD and asks, "Where is the rest of this mama? I want to take it to J's house."
I comply and find the DVD, meaning I had to turn on the DVD player and fish it out, which turns on the television, then I have to turn them back off, and hand her the DVD. Why?
#IdonotknowIwastiredandrunninglatebythistime.
We get on our rainboots - coats - etc. and head for the car. It is COLD AND WET out there people I was not a happy girl.
Finally - Finally we make it to daycare. And you know what? Because I didn't rush her and complied with requests there were ZERO tears this morning.
This is in response to Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop prompt this week -
3) Describe a phone call you will never forget.
June 1988
My mom was at a meeting, my dad was probably at work, my brother and I were home and the phone rang. I picked it up.
My Aunt: Lisa, is your mom at home?
Me: No, she's not.
My Aunt: Well, Grandpa died...
I didn't hear anything else. I just knew my brother finally took the phone from my hand.
This was my Grandpa - My Aunt's and Mommy's Daddy - One of my four favorite guys in the entire UNIVERSE and she was telling me he was...
gone.
Just like that?
He survived lung cancer, prostate cancer, so much...and he had been HEALTHY lately.
What happend?
It turned out he had a massive stroke in the house right after lunch I think...and shortly after he bought my 21st Birthday Card.
Grandpa always picked out the nicest things for the grandkids.
Easter Dresses
Christmas Dresses
Ties for my brother
Cards
Whatever it was he got it right.
He taught us the difference between a weed and a plant. How to dead-head the lilies and the iris in the yard. To appreciate flowers and plants.
He had games that we only played with him. You could never beat him at Slap or Thumb War.
My Aunt sent me an email - I checked Snopes and it is correctly attributed so I am sharing the column written by Charley Reese before he retired from the Orlando Sentinel.
It won't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican - you cannot argue with the fact that not too far back in our history our country had no debt and the only people we can point to for actually CREATING all of our taxes and debt are these 555 people.
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes,WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 555 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but PRIVATE, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 555 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human
being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits..... The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the
Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. The speaker and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want.
If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 555 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 555 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 555 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ...
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 555 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 555 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power..
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
The wind was howling in the just budding spring trees. It heralds the wintry blast we face this weekend her in the land of sky blue waters.
I snuggled into my husband's fleece jackent and jumped into the car headed toward the Y. I was going to lift weights again today - but I am so tired. I made it - and chatted with Marvin a bit too about the bike trailer he converted to haul his dogs around Palmer Lake. Marvin is the old guy who knows EVERYONE and has a bunch of little dogs and a wife who puts up with him...
I decided that today's Friday video would be YouTube's decision.
I logged in and the veryfirst recommended for ME video was this.
I am still unclear how YouTube recommends a Korean Boy Band for me, Booger Pizzabuns, but I liked it anyway.
FYI - I tried to look them up and I found out the had a "come back" album last year. Like, you know, because they are old and washed up. ;P
Via tokyohive:
Korean boy band BIG BANG has just revealed that they will release their second Japanese album in May!
According to the new banner at the top of the group’s official Japanese website, their next album “BIGBANG 2″ will hit stores on May 11th. This will be their second release of 2011 as a group, their first being their Korean comeback mini-album.
Since no other information has been revealed, Japanese VIPs should continue checking their website for more news on this exciting new album.
So welcome - this is the new design thanks to Kate.
Still some things to tweek, but whattayathink?
Been busy - but nothing too exciting. My boss took three of us to a Twins game yesterday and they lost to the Kansas City Royals. BOO! But I won tickets from a contest on Gust Gab's blog so they can make it up to me then and pound on the Seattle Mariners. Yeah!
Do you like sports? Football, Baseball, Golf - nothing?
With the ceiling work begun - the paint color of Shale Blue by Ralph Lauren selected - and my gorgeous red drapes purchased from Pier One for just $40!!!!*
I am ready to start thinking about other touches...
So have you seen the ads on Facebook? JewelMint is Kate Bosworth's jewelry version of Kim Kardashian's ShoeDazzle...
From the site: "A cool jewelry line by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter... The site gauges your style and curates a selection of jewelry for you to choose from. " -InStyle Magazine
Okay - they sent me a survey and I got 60% off so I thought I would try it out.
P.S. They have NO idea I am blogging about their jewelry. I got the offer by signing up at the site and not purchasing anything.
This is the package that arrived
When I opened the package there was this pretty "Minty" box...
When I opened the box...uhhh.
I think this is how it was supposed to look.
A cute little note...
Meh...
So the Metal Mosaic Ring at JewelMint is valued at - uhhh - $109.99. You can, or could, get it at the site for $29.99. Of course I got it 60% off that and I conclude - it is no where NEAR worth over $100...
If I saw it at Target on clearance for $8 I would buy it.
I felt pretty much the same about ShoeDazzle. Non-leather shoes for $30? I can get leather on clearance at Macy's for less...
So, am I cheap? Have you tried JewelMint or ShoeDazzle and disagree?
