Cotton Candy on a STICK? Weird. |
@IamBooBooLaLa and I got a chance to have a girls night out at the baseball game before I take off on my three day work trip. We went to see a St. Paul Saints Baseball Game at Midway Stadium.
For those of you unfamiliar with our St. Paul Saints they are quite the unique club.
* They were a charter member of the Northern League until they moved to the American Association in 2005. The Saints are First or Second in attendance every year in their league.
|
The real Justin Bieboar |
* They have a PIG carry the balls to the umpire, this year's pig naming contest came up with Justin Bieboar (beating out Oprah Pigfry and Natalie Porkman)
* Bill Murry is co-owner and Team Psychologist - he occaisionally coaches first base, boosts morale and is in charge of 'train spotting' when he is in the stadium.
Yes, trains run directly beyond the outfield walls and scoreboard and when they come by about every 15-20 minutes the announcer says, "Train" over the PA system. So needless to say, its a good time.
Boo Boo and I got hotdogs and cotton candy first thing then made our way to the seats. We had GREAT seats staring directly at home plate from the third base line. These games are fun for all ages because during each half-inning switch they do some funny game with they mad cast of characters that include a Nerd, Granny Gert, Mr. Vegas and of course Muddona!

Work it Gurrrl! |
Kids do get restless though and after a bit Boo Boo and I decided to explore the stadium that boasts lots of games, a bounce house and Rainbow Playsystem. The bounce house is of course one of her highlights.
Then we waited and watched and waited some more at the edge of our seats as the Saints pulled off a win in dramatic fashion in the Ninth Inning - a TWO OUT single that scored the winning run. YEAH.
Friday nights at a Saints game mean FIREWORKS - and turning down the PA during to hear the crowd singing along to "Livin' on a Prayer" ala the movie Cocktail...awesome. Boo Boo said the "Fireworks are better than baseball." but she is just five.
All that jammed into just about four hours? I want to thank Chevrolet for getting us the tickets for sure. We were given two tickets to the Saints game, but all the dogs and other fun were supplied by mom's wallet and The St. Paul Saints. (We tweeted during the game if you saw the #chevyfun #chevygirls hashtags!)
Thanks everybody - now go enjoy the rest of your weekend!
